Simulating Events to Generate Synthetic Data for Pervasive Spaces

چکیده

Actual data collected from real deployments is ultimately the best data that can be had and used in evaluating systems and new concepts. However, available data may not be specific enough to drive certain evaluation goals. Therefore, it is necessary to propose, as an alternative, a method to generate synthetic data for pervasive spaces. A first step in this direction is trying to simulate a chain of events in the sensor output space by the use of pattern recognition models. Specifically, we propose the use of Markov Chains to generate patterns of events due to the fact that they have been used successfully to classify chains of events in machine learning and computer vision. We believe this strategy will make for a more realistic simulation of sensor activity in a pervasive space.

Privacy-Preserving Triggers for Pervasive Spaces

Providing pervasive services often necessitates gathering information about individuals that may be considered sensitive. Often, one is forced to make a difficult choice: either to risk loss of privacy or to let go of the benefits pervasive technology offers. Our conjecture is that such a choice is not always necessary. It is possible to design data collection strategies in such a way that serv...

Enhanced Statistical Simulation Framework: Accurate Memory Data Flow Model

Microprocessor design is very time-consuming, due to the huge design space that needs to be explored in order to identify the optimal design. Detailed simulations, used to explore these design spaces, are fairly slow. For every design point of interest, several hundreds of billions of instructions per benchmark need to be simulated. Recently, statistical simulation was proposed to efficiently c...

City Research Online Title: Remembering the past and Imagining the Future in Autism Spectrum Disorder past and Future Thinking in Asd 2

Recent research has revealed that episodic memory (remembering past experiences) and episodic future thinking (imagining future experiences) rely on the same underlying neuro-cognitive system. Consistent with this suggestion, individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have been shown to experience difficulties in both domains. In the present study, 18 adults with ASD and 18 typical adults ...

ارزیابی هندسی فضایی مساجد معاصر تهران با استفاده از تحلیل مضمونی متون دینی

One of the most important problems in mosques designing is the quality of geometries and spaces which are appropriate for using in these religious buildings. It is obvious that one of the best references for studying this issue is Islamic teachings which are derived from verses and hadith. So, for responding to this question that what are the geometries and spaces which are appropriate for usin...

Towards Action-Oriented Continuous Queries in Pervasive Systems

Pervasive information systems give an overview of what digital environments should look like in the future. From a data-centric point of view, traditional databases have to be used alongside with non-conventional data sources like data streams, services and events to deal with new properties of such information systems including dynamicity, autonomy and decentralization. In this context, the de...
